Want to learn more about me?

Hello, my name is Andrew or Andy! I'm an aspiring Games Developer and Computer Games Development graduate.

I have recently graduated from Liverpool John Moores University and am currently working on a few projects to further my knowledge. You will often find me reading a book or online article on new ways to improve my skillsets.

When I am not developing I am probably playing the latest games and betas. Right now you'll probably find me playing Overwatch or Diablo 3!

Jade Solutions

/ Software Support Technician

Within this role I had to carry out certain tasks such as raising any software bugs and logging them on the system internally for the QA to track and development team to fix. I contributed in many team meetings where I had to use my communication skills to express the current state of the software release.

In addition to this I tested the Companies applications on a range of devices including handheld terminals and tablets. Following a procedural test sheet for each step and release of the software builds. This also included raising issues on the forum that customers had logged as well as completing internal audit checks for our internal devices.

Jade Solutions

/ Service Desk Technician

My main role as a Service Desk Technician was supporting and configuring ruggedised Hand Held Terminal products including the Motorola MC75\MC75A, MC65 and various scanners. As well as Truck mounted terminals and printers. For a variety of different customers. Roll outs for new/existing customers configuring devices setting up the software and everything the users will need to use them as soon as they arrive at the sites. These rollouts were often learning new software configurations for a large number of devices.

These rollouts were often learning new software configurations for a large number of devices. This role taught me a range of skills such as meeting deadlines and managing tasks as efficiently as possible. This is due to me dealing with configuring devices, managing buffer stock, managing exchanges of devices which have to meet certain SLA’s depending on the customer contract. Updating records on Wavelink Avalanche Mobility Centre, Motorola Service Platform (MSP). And finally dealing with customer queries through the form of email and telephone interaction.

I achieved an ITQ level 2 Diploma in IT User Skills which was 13 modules including developing personal and team effectiveness using IT and optimising IT system performance at the end of the apprenticeship. On completion I was then asked to continue working for the company.

Education

2014 - 2017

Liverpool John Moores University

/ BS in Computer Games Development

I have just finished my final year at LJMU University studying Computer Games Development. Since I can remember I have had a love for Video Games. As I grew older I often spent time thinking about how work mechanically. Breaking apart the concepts within a game to see how it works. Alongside my eagerness to learn I decided to study it at University.

My Portfolio will display some of the Projects which I have worked on both in University and in my own time to better my knowledge of given fields. Click Here To View.

Game Jams!

While at LJMU I attended two Game Jams, these are essentially development marathons where people with various expertise team up to make a game within a given time. I am proud to say that I was part of the winning team twice and received 3D printed trophies.

The first year we created a Cars vs Zombies Game which can be seen on my portfolio. This was made using the SFML framework using C++. We was very proud of our final product as we had only finished our first year at that stage. The judges named our game "Most likely to be made into a movie".

The second year we decided to try something new and create a puzzle match 3 game which we named Mechanical Match. This was built using marmalade in C++ and was playable on Windows and Android devices. During the event I installed the APK on my phone and tablet so that the judges could play the game theirselves.
